Title: Stage Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Supervised By: Festival Manager
The Manchester Music Festival, set in the bucolic town of Manchester, VT, is seeking a Stage Manager for its 2025 Summer season. The Stage Manager will be responsible for overseeing all production aspects, including staging, lighting, managing stage changes, and executing the strike. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with internationally acclaimed musicians while enjoying the beauty and charm of Southern Vermont.

Responsibilities
Pre-Festival:
Learn the complete production schedule including when and where all events will take place
Become familiar with festival staff and artist roster
Assist with preparation of all concert and event spaces including stage load-in and installation
Assist with stage assembly which includes moving chairs, stands, instruments and possible light props.
Conduct inventory management and purchase supplies and equipment as needed
During the Festival:
Assist with daily preparation, maintenance, cleanup, and closing of all rehearsal, performance, and outdoor spaces
Attend all rehearsals and concerts and provide proactive assistance to the musicians and production staff
Run all events, including coordinating stage changes, running lighting, monitoring backstage areas, and ensuring safety and security of artists
Assist with concert/lecture lighting preset and running; assist with organizing and calling backstage cues including stage and lighting changes and artist entrances
ssist staff with event setup including outdoor merchandise and concession areas
Qualifications
Experience in stage management or production with a festival, event, or performing arts organization.
The ideal candidates will have strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills, the ability to be proactive and anticipate the needs of artists and team members, impeccable attention to detail, positive energy, and a willingness to pitch in and be a team player wherever needed. The position requires flexibility, stamina, and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of chamber music is helpful but not required.
Occasional heavy lifting/pushing will be required, and candidates should be capable of spending long days on their feet.

Festival dates are July 7 through August 8, 2025. This is a part-time (approx. 30 hrs/week), seasonal, non-exempt position. Compensation is $3,300.00, including pre-festival and festival work. Opportunities for other festival work and support may be discussed and agreed upon. Housing is available if the candidate is not local to the Manchester area. Festival events take place Wednesday through Sunday. Access to a vehicle is essential.
